Energy Crisis

There is a direct link between the populations of the worlds wealthiest countries and the amount of energy they have available to them. This is not good news for ireland as we import almost 90% of our energy needs. And with oil prices expected to reach 190 dollars per barrel by 2030 (according to World Energy Outlook iea 2009),  some might say the outlook is bleak.

But if we look at all the energy we have available but are not harvesting i think we could be doing so much more. However many people are against wind turbines for obvious reasons (unsightly, noisy) so other sources of energy have to be developed. Personally i think nuclear is the way to go. You obtain enormous amounts of energy with little waste! of course we cant build our own because our country is broke, so for now i think interconnectors with the UK and France are the way forward.
